Abstract: This Project, titled “Enhancement of Routing Algorithm at Big Basket”, was done as part of CCS project work at IIM Bangalore. The aim of the project was to study the existing routing algorithm in place at Big Basket, India’s largest online grocery player and ways on optimizing the performance of the same. The project makes use of operational data available at Big Basket to zero in on areas with scope for reduction in variability of processes and ultimately improve optimization of resources at Big Basket. During the statistical ANOVA tests conducted using data from various dark stores in the city of Bangalore, it was found that the delay in order delivery time varied significantly with location and density of orders. We have aimed to find out the reasons and derive further insights from the same. At the end of the project, we have also presented some suggestions on how the findings of the project can be taken forward for further study in the coming days.
