Abstract: The purpose of the project is to study the differences among the international schools, private schools and government schools. International schools charge exorbitant amount of fees on the students in the name of nurturing the student not just in academics but developing the child into an all round individual. We tried to find out whether this fee charged is commensurate with the quality of education provided in these schools and compare it vis-à-vis the education provided in the private unaided and government schools for a very minimal fee. With the surveys we conducted, interactions with faculty and focus group discussions, we observed that the quality of education in international schools is much higher when compared to other schools. The consumers in this system, parents from higher income group mostly, are willing to pay any amount of fees to provide their children with quality education. They believe that sending their children to these schools will help the kid in developing various soft skills such as confidence, negotiation skills etc which will keep the kid in good stead in the long run. Though there is a vast difference in quality between the international and other schools primarily because of the difference in resources available to them, the difference can be narrowed by establishing partnerships between government schools and organizations that are willing to provide resources and their time. Government should compensate them by providing tax breaks and giving them recognition in important forums. Innovative policies like education vouchers also help the marginalized families to certain extent in providing better education to their children.
