Abstract: In this project we have worked with the Procurement department of IBM (specifically the Technical Services division) to map the different competencies with their respective job roles and responsibilities of the employees. For this we have identified certain generic competencies required for performing the job roles. Also, through our survey and the interviews we have taken we have identified certain competencies that are specifically need by the Procurement Professional and the Procurement Manager/Dept. Manager to fulfill hi/her job responsibility. (Our survey was only for these two levels). We have also, tried to explain in our report why we have chosen these competencies and what is the rationale behind the whole process. We also, have given a preliminary model of how these competencies can be assessed and how they can be used as a building block for preparing a training and development framework for procurement professionals to move to the next level.
