Abstract: This study aims at understanding the various bicycle distribution related government schemes in India. We looked at various schemes started by different states in India and explored the ways in which benefits are distributed, be it direct cash transfer, direct bicycle transfer or conditional cash transfer. The major focus of this study is to tie up these social welfare schemes by Government with the businesses. The sales data for Bicycle manufacturing firms was studied to understand the change in growth pattern of the bicycle industry after introduction of bicycle distribution schemes.
