Abstract: Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) is a major sector in India that contributes around 8 percent of the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). It contributes 45% towards manufacturing output and 40 percent of the country's exports. This sector provides the largest share of employment of around 73 million next only to agriculture. MSME includes various industries like khadi, machine tool manufacturers, sports goods manufacturers and ball bearing manufacturers. Government have realised its significance and had set up an individual ministry for MSME. Despite its relevance, MSME sector has long been facing various obstacles to growth. There is not much of literature available about the sector. So, there is a need for a ground level study to understand the impact of the growth hindrances faced by the sector.
