Abstract: Millions in India, in a country of 1.3 billion people, it is estimated that 400 million people watch Cricket game1 . With the feverish intensity and magnitude of love, Cricket is truly regarded as the “The Sport religion of India” and the cricket players are adorned with “matinee idol” status in the country. Cricket is bat and ball game played in a rectangular 22-yard-long pitch among 22 players split across two teams of 11 members each. There are broadly two formats of Cricket: Test Cricket and Limited overs. Limited overs is further classified into One day International and Twenty20 (T20). The former is limited to 50 overs and the latter is limited to 20 overs. In 2008, Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) introduced a new kind of professional cricket tournament called Indian Premier League (IPL) where predetermined number of franchise teams compete against each other. In 2015, 8 franchise teams participated in the eighth season of IPL. The tournament is similar to the English Premier League for football clubs in Europe. IPL added an extra feather to the cap of Cricket.
