Abstract: Steel is one of the important industries of India. As of 2018, India is the second largest steel producer in the world . It is also the third largest consumer of steel in the world. India produces 106.5 million tons of crude steel in 2018. The steel products imports stood at 8.95 million tons; India is currently a net exported with a surplus of 1.7 million tons . This paper aims to look at several ways freight shipment of major steel companies in India could be optimized by including coastal shipping in their logistics.
