Abstract: The decision of IT outsourcing to service providers is very critical and the decision of choosing an optimal supplier out of many suppliers is far more critical. One of the leading A&D companies has taken the decision to outsource majority of their IT operations to the IT service suppliers like Infosys, Wipro, TCS, HCL, CTS, IBM, etc. The process is not standardized and selection of criteria or critical to sourcing parameters are constantly changing with respect to each outsourcing requirement. The need is to freeze the critical to sourcing parameters and standardize the same for the general set of criteria like financial status, capacity, infrastructure, etc. However, the Request for Information (RFI) questions to IT suppliers might vary for each project but the project specific criteria also needs to be standardized. The objective of our project was to aid a typical A&D company in filtering out the prospective 3rd party vendors; assess them and award them the final contract. Our project will be dealing with the following aspects * Relevance of IT Sourcing in any industry. * Identification of “Critical to Sourcing” Parameters. * Prioritization of these parameters. * Building a quantitative analytical model using these parameters to rank different IT vendors. * Develop RFI Questionnaire that will help gauge vendors to fit in the quantitative model. The scope of this project would involve constant interaction with the A&D Company people for inputs and feedback in finalizing the critical to sourcing parameters and RFI questionnaire model. Frequent visits and meetings will be scheduled at the company’s office to have interim reviews and make sure the project is on right track. The key deliverables of this project would involve identifying critical to sourcing parameters, prioritizing these parameters, defining questions that IT suppliers must answers and finally, developing a quantitative capability assessment model to evaluate the IT suppliers.
