Abstract: The company Raman Fibrescience based in Bangalore is a research and innovation-based enterprise focused on the development and manufacture of composite materials. The essence of this Contemporary Concerns Study (CCS) is to develop a business plan for one of the recently developed product at Raman Fibrescience with specific focus on the market entry strategy and product marketing. Our CCS presents a business-plan for the battery separator manufacturing business. Within our business plan we primarily focus on catering to the international demand for battery separators as the demand in India is relatively small. Hence focusing on the entering the international market will help make the venture more profitable and ensure better returns to the investor. The Indian Lead-Acid battery separator market comprises of both Poly-Vinyl Chloride (PVC) and Poly Ethylene (PE) separators. PE separators provide better quality of life to batteries. Raman Fibrescience has the capability to produce PE as well as trademark composite based separators. The proprietor of the company wants to take his trademark products to the international market while test marketing and integrating with the Indian market battery manufacturers as well. The overall objective of this project is to building a business plan to sell the business idea to strategic investors (such as the promoter himself). The business plan has been made keeping in mind the some of the key focus areas and concerns of the promoter-investor: e Analysis of the global market for battery separators and arrive at some clear segments for targeting. This flows from a global analysis of batteries and hence batteries separators and arrive at a market map with a view to deriving possible global strategies for Raman FiberScience. e Understand and come up with product positioning recommendations with a clear sense of the USP of the product. e Develop a framework for choosing the country for entry and determining the type of market it is e Come up with a generic marketing plan that covers the 4Ps of the marketing mix for each of country and segment identified above. e Estimate the financial attractiveness of the business
