Abstract: The main objective of the project was to design a portfolio management scheme keeping in view the following : a) The clients perception of the portfolio managers and their expectations from the scheme. b) The operations of the existing portfolio managers, so as to make the scheme competitive. The first part involved finding of answers to questions such as why people did or did not invest in the portfolio management schemes, what did they look for in the schemes, their expectations of returns and what was their perception of the portfolio managers. The second part required in depth study of the operations of the portfolio managers. This part sought the answers to questions such as what were the different kinds of schemes that the portfolio managers were running, how did they go about the task of forming portfolios for the clients and what steps did they take to ensure the safety of the Portfolios. As a part of the project, it was also required to suggest a strategy for the promotional campaign to launch the scheme.
