Abstract: This project consists of two Modules. The first involved carrying out a system audit for the workplace and the stores. The four lines for the manufacture of sparkplugs were covered in the workplace audit; the stores audit included both the incoming goods stores and the final products stores. The defects in the system were identified in the audit. Based on the results of the audit, the QSG department co-ordinated. with concerned departments for corrective action. The second nodule of the assignment involved developing a conceptual system for periodical inspection of gauges. from the drawings for the gauges, the dimensions to be checked, their tolerances and worn-out limits were identified. Incorporating all this information, a flowchart was drawn for an illustrative gauge in each type (plug gauge, thread ring gauge etc). information regarding what instrument is required for checking, typical numbers of each type of gauge were also classified. The sequence and logic formulated through the flowcharts were extended to conceptualise a micro-processor based programable system for periodical inspection.
