Abstract: The objective of this project was to study and devise an organisational structure for Bharat Silks to enable it to meet its goals of expansion and diversification keeping in mind its greater social responsibilities. Bharat Silks is a simple structured organisation with the decision-making and controlling power vested in the Managing Director. There is a lack of standardisation and formalisation of behaviour, which makes integration and proper coordination difficult. There is a crying need for training of the workers in the production floors. Motivational level is very low and high turnover of workers and employees is the gravest problem faced by this organisation. There is a lack of professional staff with the average qualification being Intermediate pass or graduation. Keeping in mind the future aims of the comp any, it is suggested that the existing capabilities of the manpower be strengthened by imparting training in the required areas. To motivate the employees as well as counter high worker turnover, it is suggested that their wages and salaries be kept above the norm of the industry and uniform incentive scheme s be introduced in all the production un its. The state of the technology must be upgraded and General Managers must be appointed to look after the different functions.
