Abstract: The project involved Anaylsis and Design of System in Akshay Dyeing Ltd, which is a part of the flagship company, Bharat Silks. Bharat Silks produces fabrics, motiffs, embroideries etc. and exports it to countries in Europe like Italy, France, Canada. The company has been registering an annual growth rate of around 50% since 1990. However, the company experienced a decline in its turnover in the last year. The reason attributed to this decline was the recession in Europe. However, during this period, other companies like Himatsingka Seide and Swan Silks had Increased their turnover. The problem therefore lay elsewhere and my research attempted to find it. The major findings were as follows. 1. Absence of Market Intelligence. 2rt Lack of Professionals in various departments. 3?? Absence of Information Technology. 4?? Lack of High -Tech. To alleviate these problems 1. The company should invest in Plant and Machinery and Information Technology 2. Recruit professionals. 3. Do a partial forward Integration by setting up a local-sales office in order to support third - party channels. 4. Put more effort on DIRECT MARKETING. Akshay dyeing Ltd was incorporated in the year 1991 and it has been experiencing process and Information - gap problems. Akshay can solve most of these problems by having proper Information System. Computerisation is necessary to serve as a tool for providing timely and correct Information. The process problems can be reduced only by placing more effort on R&D of recipe of shades, since the basic structure should be strong for efficient utilisation of technology that is going to be imported at Akshay. But first of all, shades should be standardised. Since It Is very difficult to determine the “demand of each shade”( because of improper documentation), a shade card can be prepared , beginning with few shades. This card can then be continuously reviewed and updated; whenever a new shade Is prepared and the old one becomes obsolete. Shade-Matching equipment and thermostat can be installed to reduce internal lead-time and quality problems.
