Abstract: The project attempts to do a viability study for offering the services of cold storage, palletising and handling of the perishable cargo being exported from Sahar Cargo Terminal. The study attempts to do a systematic analysis of the logistics of the existing operations. It identifies the various products being exported from Sahar Cargo Terminal, the various agencies involved in the present setup and their impact on the export process. The study focuses upon the problems being faced by the various agencies and does a cost analysis across the whole chain of the operation. It also tries to identify the scope for improvement in the chain of operations. The study concludes that there is sufficient scope for adding value to fresh meat exports by providing a cold storage facility at Sahar Cargo Terminal and to mechanise the complete operations of handling and palletising of all the perishable products being exported through Sahar. The study recommends the following: 1. Setting up of a cold storage facility exclusively for fresh meat products. 2.Setting up of so palletiser and an automatic cargo handling facility for all perishable exports.
