Abstract: The business of agricultural exports will be a thrust area for Indian companies in the light of the fact that agriculture is an area where India can develop a core competence and also in the light of the fact that GATT is going to make the world a more open global marketplace. This study has focussed on commodities which are being exported currently. Based on export growth over the past few years, export volume, world trade and the profitability of the export business for Indian exporters, five commodities have been identified - a) Rice, b) Soyabean Extractions, ¢) Groundnut Extractions, d) Castor Oil e) Cashew.
