Abstract

The opening up of the basic telecommunications sector to the entry of the private operators has created exciting opportunities for an Information Technology (IT) company like Wipro in terms of providing the necessary IT support to these operators. This project has been undertaken in the above context with the objectives as mentioned below. To identify the Information Technology (IT) tequirements, that is hardware, software and data communication equipment, of the private operators in basic telecom services and the sources proposed to be used by them for these requirements in the areas of Switching, Transmission, Interconnectivity, Customer care and Billing, Directory Assistance, Value added services, In-house Automation and MIS
