This was inspite of the fact that the total manufacturing industry was yet to recover from recessionary phase. The manufacturing and finance were two growth segments identified by leading H/W and S/# houses. Many high end Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution who had set up representation in India were surprised by the overwhelming response they got from manufacturing sector. The combined turnover of these ERP solution was above 25 crores in the year 92-95 alone. WIPRO being a leading IT vendor in India undertook this study with following objectives: 1. Estimate the market potential for the packaged ERP solution in manufacturing sector. 2. Identify the segments in the market for ERP solution, if there are any. 3. To understand the decision-making process of ERP solution. 4, To validate the WIPRG’s identified segment of pharma, automotive and engineering segment. 5.
