Abstract: The present spate of liberalisation measures going on in India have made many international giants lock at India favourably. A number of foreign companies have evinced interest in establishing their operations in India. The first step towards this has been the setting up of a liaison office in India. The liaison office provides information as well as helps in maintaining contact with the Indian customers of the foreign company. It also helps in developing an awareness about the products of the foreign company which may be new to India, and subsequently evaluate the possibility of establishing in due course a manufacturing base in India. A. F. Ferguson & Co. (AFF) has been actively involved in assisting foreign companies in the setting up of liaison offices in India. This manual outlines the procedures for setting up of liaison offices in India. It also lists the various forms that have to be filed with various government departments in this regard.
