The majo:r pa:rt o.f the internship was focused on a project which had a three part objective: • To gain a deep Ul'lderstanding of all the various products offered by Nomura Singapore across asset classes in FX, interest rates and credit • To benchmark Nomura against the major players in Singapore and Indonesia markets • To identify sample companies from Singapore and Indonesia in various industrial sectors, analyze their risk exposures across asset classes and suggest suitable products ideas that can be pitched to the clients - case studies While with the FID sales team my major team contribution was to gain an understanding of the Europe Debt crisis and analyze its short term and long term effects on the various markets like FX, rates and equity. As part of the Corporate Sales team I had the opportunity to be part of a ,~ client meeting which brought in a lot exposure to face-to-face client interaction. Besides the two projects, another major part of the internship experience was to learn about the various functions at the FID including. trading, structuring and research and also the Commodities business as a whole which was not covered by the Corporate Sales desk. This involved understanding the various pricing software used, research resources and analysis, trading platforms and interpreting real time market data and news feeds.
