Ltd. | Authors: | Jain, Alok Kumar | Keywords: | Private equity;PE;Capital funds;Investments | Issue Date: | 2010 | Publisher: | Indian Institute of Management Bangalore | Series/Report no.: | PGP_SP_P10_059 | Abstract: | I was working in the MacCap Funds group based out of Mumbai office. With more than a billion and half dollar fund to invest in India Infrastructure sector, the fund is actively engaged in many large deals. The fund is a joint venture between Macquarie Capital and SBI. The fund mandate is to invest the fund only through private equity placements in key infrastructure sectors in India. MSIF( Macquarie SBI Infrastructure Fund) does private equity investments both in individual assets/projects and holding companies. The team size was small but all members were very helpful. I was actively engaged in two large live deals and was involved in day to day work related to those two deals. In addition to day to day work I was assigned two additional projects. The day to day work involved modeling, review of financial models, valuations, making presentations, analyzing sectors, understanding basic economics of the key infrastructure sectors, comparables, running scenarios etc. The culture was quite open and we used to be part of deal negotiation meetings and other weekly deal summary meetings. The internship gave a good inside view on deal making and structuring. | URI: | https://repository.iimb.ac.in/handle/2074/16691 |
