Abstract

Spirituality is the essence of life in every respect. It constitutes its very life breath. Across the major wisdom traditions of the world, it is generally agreed that the purpose of human life is self-awakening. It is spirituality alone that can provide a balanced perspective on the principles that govern our conduct on worldly affairs. Religion, on the other hand, is different. It denies the rules of the game of the outer world. But spirituality helps us to explore the mysteries of the inner world and helps us connect to our deeper selves. The inner journey requires that the mind be supple and the intellect be subtle of grasping spiritual truths.
