Abstract: Lending to the ineligible and not getting the money back on time after lending are both major problems for banks in this country. The bond between the two is very successful. How is this wonder possible? Will Bondhan Bank be able to sustain this success?. Bondan started its journey as a full fledged bank on 23rd August. The incident deserves mention for multiple reasons. It is a rare event that a 16-year-old Bengali company won a prize by leaving behind the Rathi-Maharathi in the race to get a bank license. On top of that, this is the first time in our country that a microfinance institution or microfinance institution has got the status of a bank, it is also noteworthy. But most importantly, the burden of unproductive assets that state-owned and private banks have been reluctant to raise in recent times is almost non-existent in bonding microfinance institutions. The question is, will the bond to reduce unproductive assets pave the way for the former banks?.
