Abstract: This chapter focuses on the family-to-business strategies, experiences, and outcomes of enterprising families in India. Enterprising families refer to those households comprised of at least one individual who is involved in owning and managing a business. There are multiple sources of statistical data on the demographic and livelihood patterns in India, such as the national population census, the economic census, annual survey of industries, as well as sponsored reports on entrepreneurial activity. However, the various sources provide incomplete and different perspectives on the involvement of households operating a business. While the specific rate of entrepreneurship within India tends to vary depending on the source of data, most sources report that the rate of entrepreneurship is persistently growing
