Abstract: Brakes India is the country's largest manufacturer of complete braking system for both automotive and non-automotive applications and is well known for its high quality products. In recent years, Brakes India has been facing the challenges of design, development and supply of different customised braking equipment to customers including new entrants such as Fiat, Ford, Toyota etc. Engineering, Research and Development (E, R and D) department, which is involved in the design and development of new products, is entrusted with new product introduction to meet customer requirements. The department lacks a system to monitor and control the time/cost expensed in the new product introduction. In the absence of such a system, project time and cost overruns and any significant technical fallout could not be obtained. This study is an attempt to design and implement a system that would aid in monitoring and control of new product development activities.
