Abstract: vijai Electricals Ltd. manufactures various types of transformers at various units. The company has supplied transformers to most of the electricity boards and corporate bodies in India, and as well as the company exported transformers to various countries through out the world. Now VEL is facing stiff competition in domestic and global markets and at the same time the profitability of the company has been reduced. So that it is high time that the company has to achieve excellence in world class competitiveness to succeed in such a competitive business environment. The most important component of competitiveness is the quality of the products being supplied. Cost effectiveness is the next important component TQM approach was felt as the answer in achieving world class competitiveness as well as overcoming difficulties those are faced while adoption. The success story of the Japan was the inspiration for us to take up this as a project knowing fully that the success is primarily attributed by the creative involvement of the employees.
