Innovations for inclusive growth in Indian healthcare industry

Abstract

The distribution of the healthcare services in India is not equitable. It is not shared equally among rich and poor, people in urban areas and rural folks because of the affordability and accessibility of the healthcare services. In this study we have identified the efforts done by various Indian healthcare service providers to reach to the people at the base of the pyramid by making it available at affordable at their doorsteps. Such efforts are innovative in nature. The healthcare service providers have created innovations aimed at enhancing life expectancy, quality of life, diagnostic and treatment options, as well as the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the healthcare system. Information technology has played a vital role in the innovation of healthcare systems. There is a clear divide between rich and demand of the healthcare services. Figure below presents the statistics on the same.
