The scope of our study will investigate defining the boundaries of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in India and its growth and evolution since its inception. The study will deep dive into the origins of the various concepts and clearly define and segregate the vital elements of the entrepreneurial ecosystem. With the larger scope of global application, we will focus on the evolving Indian entrepreneurial ecosystem in relation to the growing investments and opportunities in emergent economies. After defining this, we will analyse the origin, governing factors, and current state of the Software-as-a-service industry in India while keeping the global implications in mind. Through this research, we aim to determine how the different components of the entrepreneurial ecosystem positively or negatively correlate with the SaaS industry at the global level. This would be analysed through examples of successful ecosystems such as Silicon Valley, Boston, Israel, London etc. In relation to this, a comparison will be drawn in relation to emergent economies and the contrasts and similarities will be determined. Our methodology of proceeding with the research will include primary interviews with industry experts including budding and successful SaaS start-ups. This would be followed by secondary data analysis and relevant literature review.
