December 2019, a novel coronavirus [SARS-CoV-2] was discovered at a local maweat in Wuhan, China. Within a month, over a hundred cases were identified in 19 other countries and the World Health Organization (WHO) declared it as a public health emergency. Like other respiratory viruses, the coronavirus is highly contagious and can spread easily through droplets released by coughing, sneezing, speaking, or breathing. By April 2020, the cases were growing exponentially, reaching 1 million and over 50,000 deaths! above were reported. As of today (5 February 2022), there are ~392 million cases, ~5.7 million deaths across 192 countries. Covid is a threat to the health security and global economy, and researchers are continuing to explore ways in which technology such as artificial intelligence can be used to contain and mitigate this pandemic.
