Warehousing is one of the most common logistics functions outsourced to third party service providers today. Though this industry is expected to grow at the rate of 40% per year, the level of services offered in India when compared to the developed economies is very primitive to say the least. The services offered today are more transactional in nature and less strategic. The aim of this project was therefore to study the state of warehousing services in India today and identify ways in which service providers can add real value for the customer.
