dc.description.abstractThe study aims at understanding the Packaging materials industry in India with a focus on the wooden packaging materials. The current scenario of Indian packaging industry was studied. Interactions with the manufacturers of wooden, plastic and corrugated pallets provided information about the various packaging materials being used in India and the market for each of them. The pallet pooling systems were also analyzed by studying the system followed in CHEP India ltd. The alternatives for the wooden packaging materials such as plastics, corrugated sheets, paper and metals were studied and their relative advantages were compared to the wooden materials.
