Warehousing essentially refers to storage of goods/merchandise by acting as an inventory buffer till the goods/merchandise is demanded by the end consumers. In the present study, we look at the warehousing industry in India. Given the lack of publicly available data, the study is restricted to qualitative information obtained via conversations with industry participants and some quantitative data reported by research agencies. The study is focused on understanding the current warehousing scenario in India with a deep dive on the operational issues in warehousing. We also add some perspective on the financial issues of warehousing in India, mainly revolving around the key drivers of valuation of warehouses.
