The Honourable Prime Minister of India launched a remarkable scheme named “Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana” (Parliamentarian’s Model Village Scheme) on 11 October 2014.This scheme envisages the adoption of one village initially by each and every Member of the Parliament (MP). The scheme entrusts with the M.Ps, the responsibility to transform that village into a ‘Model village’ by 2016. By 2019, the M.Ps are expected to mould two more villages to fall in line with the ‘Model Village’. The Government does not set aside any special financial grant or intend to allocate any specific resource towards this cause. On the other hand, the villages are required to derive resources from the already existing schemes aided by the Government. It becomes the primary responsibility of the M.P to guide and monitor in such a fashion that the village empowers itself and attains development through community work. A comprehensive set of guidelines has been formulated for the effective and successful implementation of “Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana”. However, one can find a lacuna in evolving an efficient model for evaluating the existing state of the village and thereby prioritizing various development projects
