The construction industry is one of the major contributors to a nation’s GDP. Construction industry generates a lot of employment in India. The technological advances in this industry creates opportunities for various players-existing and new. The prefab technology has been used in developed countries for decades. Despite the access to technology, India has been a slow adaptor of it in the construction sector. Recently, there is a surge in usage of prefabrication especially precast in construction projects in cities and also in mass housing construction projects in rural areas. It is vital to understand the supply chain of prefab manufacturers and effect of its usage on the entire supply chain in a construction project. Further study in understanding the impact and scope of prefab in future is required. The following report describes the growth of prefab in India and world. The report also analyses the supply chain of construction sector and how prefabrication impacts and interacts with the existing supply chain in Indian context. The analysis is focused on housing construction projects.
