dc.description.abstractWith the advent of urbanization, more & more people have started coming to cities to work. Thus, the working population of metropolitan cities does not just include people who have been living there for quite a long time, but also those who have done major part of their education in smaller town but have now moved to organizations which have offices in these bigger cities. The level of exposure to media, public policy, luxury, comfort & entertainment of people living in metro cities is higher than that of small towns. Thus, the objective of our research is to understand the cultural differences in Tier 1 and Tier 2,3 cities and to assess whether the cultural differences affect employee’s work performance Also, we intend to understand if these differences influence the work-style and motivation level of employees in organizations. Also, the two-factor theory or Herzberg’s (1959) motivation-hygiene theory developed by Frederick Herzberg introduced the two factors namely “Motivators” and “Hygiene”, which steer job satisfaction at work place. Motivators include recognition, achievement, possibility of growth, advancement, responsibility, and the work itself. On the other hand, hygiene factors include salary, interpersonal relations at work, supervision, company policies and administration, working conditions, factors in personal life, status, and job security (Tietjen and Myers, 1998).
