Abstract: Project Objective: The objective of the project is to study the Indian Aerospace Industry, ascertain the opportunities presented by it for the future period 2015-20. The project aimed to study the capabilities of the Indian private players in the industry and formulate a strategy for them to leverage upon. Scope of the Project: The project presents a holistic view of different sectors of aerospace industry covering civil and military aerospace sector at Global and Indian scale. It aims to present an understanding of the capabilities of major private players like Mahindra, Tata, Airbus, HAL etc. As part of the study we have primarily focussed upon the aircrafts industry. Need for the Project: The Indian aerospace sector has witnessed much change in the last decade, from almost nonexistent private players in the domestic space to a few big names like Tatas, Mahindra and L&T to count now. Several challenges are mounted against the domestic aerospace industry, especially private players, however the new opportunities arising due to government push for “Make in India” and offset policy in defence sector are exciting. The need for development and growth of domestic aerospace industry is of strategic and economic interest in India due to its largest defence purchase program in the world, surpassing even China and growing civil aviation Industry. The Study of Indian aerospace industry, which is still dominated by state PSUs such as HAL, BEL etc. in the light of the recent event has never been so important.
