This project paper studies the corporate bond market in India. It discusses the ecosystem of the bond market in India with specific focus on the corporate bonds. The paper highlights some of the key trends and issues in the Indian corporate bond market such as the dominance of private placements over public issues and the participation of Foreign Institutional Investors (FII) in the corporate bond market. Also, a study was performed to understand the dynamics of the corporate bond market during key monetary policy changes. For this purpose, the demonetisation scheme implemented in November 2016 was selected as the anchor monetary policy change.
