dc.description.abstract3D printing, also called additive manufacturing. 3D printing is a procedure that uses a 3- dimensional digital model to build a physical object by adding multiple thin layers of material in sequence, consequently lowering cost by reducing waste. This is fundamentally distinctive from traditional, subtractive production systems. The current process can waste up to 90 % of the original material block. Although we perceive it as a new technology, approximately 30 years ago, 1st 3D printer is introduced. Problems like durability, agility, and IP rights security have blocked 3Dprinting from entering the mainstream. However, the industry is performing rapid progressions, and it takes a time moment to understand its impact on global supply chains. 3D printing is a disruptive innovation that will have a significant impact on the global supply chain. According to the Global Supply Chain Institute white paper, New Supply Chain Technology Best Practices, “some supply chain professionals predict 3D printing will eventually rival the impact of Henry Ford’s assembly line.” This innovation can help organizations lessen cost significantly, subdue geography perils and charges, enhance customer service, decrease the carbon footprint, and drive change for competitive advantage.
