Supply chain management in agriculture, reforms: Impact and limitations

Abstract

The primary objective of this report is to study the agricultural supply chain in India. This includes supply chain of grains, vegetables, and horticulture produce. The reports highlight some of the major issues that modern agriculture in India faces due to lack of infrastructure. It was identified that current storage practices and transportation network is a thing to concern about and there is a sincere need to promote development of Cold Chain Infrastructure. Current drivers and obstacles for the development of this infrastructure are studied. Then the report dives into the government’s intervention through the newly formed farm laws, its objectives, benefits, and roadblocks. The impact of these laws on existing mandies is looked into. Then it tries to find some parallels between similarities between agriculture practices in India and Indonesia. Further, report tries to find if India can benefit from the rise of Chinese agriculture.
