The logistics sector broadly includes the road transport sector (consisting of trucking, fleets unorganized small businesses, and large transport companies), the warehousing sector, storage and third-party logistics (3PL). India is ranked at 35 as per World Bank’s Logistics Performance Report. Though India jumped 19 places from 2016-2017, It has still to go a far way in achieving an efficient logistics chain. Logistics cost accounted for 13-14 % of India’s GDP in 20171 . The National portal for Logistics of India is being designed by the ministry of commerce to bring this cost below 10%. As in the coming years, global economy is expected to decrease but India is expected to blossom, it is necessary to improve the ranking to have and efficient logistics system for the FDI which is expected to grow. The logistics in India suffers from a lot of inconsistencies in infrastructure, transport (rail, road, water and air), poor connectivity, fragmented market, a highly rigid tax system and policies which lead to inter-state delays.
