dc.description.abstractKingfisher Airlines was established in 2003. Its parent company United Breweries had 50% stake in the low-cost carrier Kingfisher Red. United Breweries was one of largest Indian conglomerate of the period and owned the Kingfisher beer brand. Kingfisher airlines started commercial operations in May,2005. In November 2005, the airlines CEO made an IPO announcement to raise $200Mn for expansion of operations. The company owned two subsidiaries Northway Aviation and Vitae India Spirits. Northway Aviation was in the business of pre-delivery payments and aircraft acquisition. The group Chairman Mr. Vijay Mallya had successfully handled many acquisitions in the past and expanded the UB group.
