Housing being one of the three basic needs of life always remains the top priority of any person, government and society at large. It is a catalyst to improve the living standards of people cutting across almost every other indicator of human development. Decent housing prevents diseases, injury and death, provides security, and increases household and national income. In spite of fundamental improvements in the economies and living standards in many parts of the world in recent decades, there is an urgent need to improve housing conditions for huge numbers of people.
