In our CCS, we have studied the investments in different sectors in Africa by India and China, and compared the trends exhibited in these investments. We have also studied the trade relations of these countries with African counterparts and compared the trends there. This should help us in understanding the similarities and differences in the approach India and China have taken towards trade with and investment in African countries. Currently, Sub-Saharan Africa gets the least amount of total world investments and Sub-Saharan Africa and Middle East Africa put together get marginally higher investments than much smaller region South Asia. Within African continent too, the distribution of FDI is not comparable. Most of the investments go towards oil rich countries. In our CCS, we have tried to investigate the reason India and China are engaging in Africa, and how they compare with each-other in terms of sectors of Investment, countries, and type of involvement chosen.
