dc.description.abstractNokia is one of the largest and most reputed manufacturers of mobile communication devices inthe world. Its net sales were 5.5 billion Euros in the second quarteri of 2011. Nokia’s mission of“Connecting People” is the guiding principle behind its strategic intent of building great mobilephones that can be used by billions of people around the world to get more of life’sopportunitiesii. Due to the highly competitive markets and rapidly changing landscape of themobile market the Nokia had lost market share and leadership position. It has come up with anew strategy to partner with Microsoft to create a winning mobile ecosystem by bringingtogether complementary competencies for value growth, invest in next generation disruptivetechnology and a new leadership structure to capture volume to connect the next billion in theemerging economies. Nokia has a multi-pronged strategy in terms a wide array of productsranging from value to volume, Symbian as well as the upcoming Windows mobile Operatingsystems and creating an application ecosystem of complementary software to achieve its vision.Nokia’s manufacturing facilities are located worldwide.
