Abstract: With growth in industrialization and urbanization of economy, India has become a strategic market for international companies across the World. This project aims to study the strategies adopted by the multinationals while entering India and the response strategy adopted by Indian companies. We decided to study 8 companies (one domestic and one international) spanning 4 different industries. We studied their mode of entry, their growth strategy, the competitive positioning and assets employed by these firms to garner a high market share in the Indian market. Also, we analyzed the strategy adopted by the Indian counterparts to fight them. At the end we have used three frameworks which can be used to analyze foreign and Indian firms.
