Activities at the ASSG can broadly be classified into two - the first being study of specific industry sectors and identification of suitable players to invest in. The second involves evaluation as investment opportunities of specific companies that approach the group for fund raising. I got a chance to do both here, though a substantial period of time was spent on studying the Indian retail sector about which I have explained in more detail in the next section. Work involved participation in client I broker meetings, analysis and evaluation of ideas from these, talks with sector and company analysts' and other consultants, compilation and discussion among team of all information and interpretation and finally presentation of the investment idea to the MD in the form of an Investment Note.
