dc.description.abstractTHE new Parliament has been constituted after a historic election which witnessed unprecedented political debate on ideological differences between main parties. The challenge now is how to revive growth in the domestic economy from its sagging level, in face of a depressed global economy. In the manufacturing sector, growth has been low for the last two years for most of the industry groups, especially capital goods and consumer durables. In the services sector also the situation is equally grim. To revive growth in these sectors is not going to be easy and would involve consistent effort for years.
