Pakistan’s Missile Launches, 2007-2009 The National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS) had earlier carried out a detailed assessment of Pakistan’s ballistic missile programme.1 A summary of this study appeared in India’s National Security Annual Review 2006.2 An update on this was further published in the 2007 Review.3 Since then NIAS has carried out substantial work on improving and refining the procedures and methods used in that study. These include improvements in the way images available in the public domain are evaluated for quality and accuracy, as well as an improved trajectory model that incorporates the effect of earth rotation on the trajectory of the missile.4-
