dc.description.abstractIndian Education sector (IES) is one of the largest service sector industries in India. But it is best described as an industry which is over regulated and under governed with network of ~1m schools and 18,000 higher education institutes. Yet, the public system is ‘insufficient’ and ‘inefficient’, leading education spend $60bn on private education (14% CAGR over FY08 The entire education sector can be divided into formal IES which includes the K and the Higher education institutes which are directly under the control of the Human Resource Development ministry of India and informal IES which includes businesses which complement the formal IES such as the coaching institutes, pre schools, vocational education, book publishers, etc-
