This project aims to deliver a backhaul model capable of servicing the Walmart B2C DC at Palwal through the Marico C&F at Rohtak. After the successful implementation at Palwal, this plan can then be rolled out at the other locations, namely, Zirakpur and Bangalore. The objective is to create cost savings for Marico and improve the service levels for both the stakeholders. The rationale of the project is two-fold: • There are supply chain inefficiencies and a lack of transparency in the current distribution system due to the involvement of different functional groups of two independent organizations. By implementing backhaul, some of these inefficiencies can be reduced leading to an improvement in cost savings. • The stock out problems that might exist in the Walmart DC can be eliminated.
