Title: Are private basic telecom projects viable in India?
Authors: Bhattacharya, Avijit

Keywords: Telecommunication
Issue Date: 1997
Abstract: The first effects of liberalisation were felt in the Indian telecommunications sector with the privatisation of basic telecom services. With the market having opened up, foreign companies are entering the country in droves bringing with them latest technology and competitive pricing structure. Taking the Karnataka telecom experience as a model, the unfolding scenario has been examined as well as whether the astronomical license fees quoted are justified.
